  1. AM - yes skiing it is!

Gypsy - yes people climb them... and fall off them, too.

  2. Stunning! Reminds me of Salt Lake City. We have views like that. Oh I love living in the mountains. Where I lived other places without so much as a hill I truly missed them!

  3. Skiing here sometimes starts before December. I don't ski, never have, but I HAVE done my share of alpine climbing.

Also, once had an alpine fall...300ft. downslope, in the trees, etc., from about 9, 300 ft. to 9,000 ft., full snow and ice conditions. I am lucky to be alive. That was about 30 years ago.

    OMG what a beautiful pic!
I am stunned by all your pics in fact ....... I'll have to go walkabouts in my new neck of the woods and see what I can find - doubt it will look like that though!!

  7. Dale,

When I lived in the valley, I seem to recall that skiing started in November up at Panorama. We'd have vaction rentals booked for ski holidays over American Thanksgiving. Or maybe that was for RK...it's been a while - I'm getting older and forget things....

I do remember all too well how awesome it is to live in a place where no matter where you look there's in-your-face natural beauty - even the bloody landfill has a spectacular view!

Gypsy - I've always wanted to visit Ireland and Scotland. The highlands look like an excellent place to hike!

I have climbed my mountain. It is in Glacier National Park and I've forgotten the name of it, but I'll never forget the feeling! Like standing at the top of the world....slid partway down and ruined a pair of jeans, but no falls, thank goodness!

Salud, and have a great week!

  8. lovely pic. I've always loved that mountain, reminding me of a giant slide. As a child my imagine would have me sliding down the smooth side of the mountin on a huge inner-tube. lol.

  10. Found it! It was Altyn Peak in the Many Glacier Valley. Just under 8,000 feet - not a terribly high mountain - but it was there.....

    Thanks, Gypsy. Someday....

  12. Ahh, so it IS a skiing thing. *L*

I'll be counting down the days until Christmas, and the counting down the days until spring. I'm not a winter person, unfortunately....! Luckily my birthday comes in the middle of winter, so it breaks it up a bit, gives me something interesting to do. *L*

    Lovely views!

  13. You always have the most gorgeous pictures. Now that I have lived in the mountains, it would be hard to live anywhere else - and the Smokies have nothing in height to the Rockies.

For some Canadian humour, stop by my blog for some Weird Al.

  16. Dale!

Where art thou? Hope things are well. I'm recovering from a congested lung with infection. The antibiotics are helping. Maybe I'll be back to work tomorrow after being away for more than a week.
