I watched these deer in the neighbour's yard the other evening.
Due to the recent deep and unseasonal snowfall, they were somewhat hungry and eating from the bird feeder.
Flocks of migrating birds were flitting about in confusion, as well, knocking puffs of snow from the branches of a nearby Manitoba maple tree.
It seems odd to be listening to the cascade of birdsong while the sun sets late in the evenings - and still having all this snow about.
HAPPY EASTER !
oh what an idyllic scene..dale you should do christmas cards..you know how to capture a moment..
ReplyDeleteThe Easter weekend looks like it is going to be a winterlike one over most of North America. Hope yours is a good one.
ReplyDeleteZoe
I love the picture!
Hey Dale!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture! It's like that here, too - the days are long, the birds are singing, we don't have snow, but damn it's cold! The robins have been back since early March, but this week they sit with their feathers all puffed out trying to keep warm, poor things.
Glad you're feeling better! Have a great Easter. Ski! Spring will re-spring soon.....the sooner the better as far as I'm concerned..:P
Beautiful picture, Dale.
ReplyDeleteI wish you and your family a Happy Easter. Your sis and I celebrated an early one last night. Fabulous fun!
Nice pics. Better a bird feeder than a vegetable garden egh?
ReplyDeleteHave a hoppy Easter. I hope the Easter Bunny is good to all of you.
Yes, AM, Austin and I had fun last night at my "chateau" (lol)
Love Lesley xx
Dale has been abducted by the easter bunny..ski's and all..he was waiting for her as she flew down the mountain, he bundled her up in a sack!...
ReplyDeleterumour has it that she is in easter egg heaven and is refusing to write a ransom note..
Well, can you blame her? The bunny all to herself and all the eggy-wegs she can eat!
ReplyDeletePlus I hear you don't have to cook, or do dishes, or laundry, or ANYTHING up there... think she could let us in for a bit?
or we could arrange a rescue mission, and just happen to fail and be captured....
ReplyDeleteGood thinking stevie...help!..help!..ive been set upon by a big hairy rabbit looking type thingy with a pocket full of eggy-wegs!!...
ReplyDelete>>>been dragged away now>>>>>>>>>>
hang on Gypsy girl... I am on my way!.............
ReplyDeleteWoa Gypsy...it's Harvey! Oh no, that's your.....thingy son..
ReplyDeleteahem,,, actually, it's Dale I'm here for isn't it? I stopped by here last night and saw your lovely photo, Dale, but I was with a friend and could only look and not write.
A beautiful image, and wonderful to see outside your back door. Amazing! I wish we had some woldlife to see. All I see is passing tourists gawping at us...lol...mind you they're pretty wild sometimes!
gasp!..stevie....i'm been repressed!..
ReplyDeletewe have wild life here...they're called drunken bums who roam the streets viscously fleecing happless victums on the cobbles..
Bloody peasant...
ReplyDelete...did you hear that eh? That's what I'm going on about!...
ReplyDeleteI thought we were an autonomous collective....
ReplyDeleteHi Dale,
ReplyDeletehere in Germany the spring is comming. We had only some days with snow this winter. Global warming!!! Since years I was no skiing, because it's very expensive to go to Austria or Swizerland. Now I'm waiting to work in my garden. The tulip now comng into blossom. I love the spring.
Hope you feel good.
Love and peace
Stefan

Hi Everyone
ReplyDeleteLooks like there's been a party in here during my absence...
I might be gone for a bit - some matters I have to look after.
It's been a bit of a rough go.

Stevie - no, we're an anarcho-syndicalist commune, aren't we?
ReplyDeleteHiya Dale. Glad to see you're up and about and taking full advantage of your incredibly beautiful environment.
While you're looking out onto scenes of hungry deer, we're battling an influx of European wasps here. No more eating outside; they can sniff out as little as an al fresco glass of water from miles away. How did they get visas I want to know? Bastards.
Dale - I'm so sorry - I really should have read read all the entries here BEFORE I started blathering. Hope you're OK. Big virtual hug to you.
ReplyDeleteHappy late Easter!
ReplyDeleteDale!!!! We're with you, thinking of you, missing you!!! Come back in strength. Hugs and lots of love xxxxxx

Want to come to the Blue Lake camp as an adult advisor? You can bring the kids... or leave them at home... it's a youth empowerment camp, April 20 -22... it's all paid for, you can be my helper... we have amazing speakers coming... might be like a mini vacation... you don't actually have to do anything!
oh, um, by the way, I sang that to the tune of Bicycle Built For Two... in my head it went quite well... the kids looked at me a little oddly...
ReplyDeleteHi Dale,
ReplyDeleteSending you lots of positive vibes from across the land! I hope things get better soon.
i'm feeling a bit like my daffodils in the snow...
ReplyDelete(((((( DALE )))))))))
ReplyDeleteThere. That's my cyberhug. Beth and I text messaged a bit on Wednesday so I gave her a TM hug too. It's a nice way for the two of us to keep in touch.
Daffodils in the snow can be beautiful dale...i hope you feel that..
ReplyDeleteHuh....now that you mention it, I never knew deer would eat from a bird feeder. I have seen deer in the forest behind our house, but they have never come close enough to steal from the birds. I guess there are so many people that they keep their distance. Now they are building more houses where the deer would quietly explore and walk out back.....sad.
ReplyDeleteAnd you know, if you feel like daffodils in the snow, that means you are bringing beauty and warmth to a cold and dreary world... just like you always do!
ReplyDeletexxx
I think we need to send The crack squad of derelicté salvation marines army...
ReplyDeletedale come read the poem on my blog it will soothe you..x..

Hello snow-bunny - or slush-bunny I suppose, assuming the thaw's set in.
ReplyDeleteStill thinking of you, and enjoying the occasional enticing glimpses of you I see around the traps.
I hope you're feeling OK and that things are starting to smooth out for you, but take your time. Some people are worth waiting for.
