Work has overtaken me once again and I am thinking wistfully of the evenings in August that I managed to spend writing. My story is now in suspended animation once more until I have an evening without preparation. I'm looking forward to it.
Hi Grace, Val, Dan and Anne-Marie! It is us who are on holidays. Right now we are at our friends' home in Courtnay, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. I stuck my hand in the Pacific Ocean as we took the dog for a walk along the beach at low tide. Later this afternoon we took another walk along a spit of land reaching out into the ocean. The tide was high and the wind and surf were wonderful. We have not listened to the radio, watched TV or been on a computer since we left over a week ago. Oh, such peace and quiet!
The moose is a female cow moose and we photographed her along the road to Banff when we went camping a couple of weeks ago. She was drinking from a creek at the side of the road. As moose are solitary creatures, it's not often more than one is seen at a time, unless the cow has a baby or twins by her side.

aww, is he looking for his buddies, or the tourists? Either way he has the look of "hey, am I all alone", for sure.
