This photo was taken during one of my Chicks on Sticks sessions in February.
It is along the trail that follows the spine of the bowl, where we have to take our skis off and hike. That is me on the left.
The direction we took that day was to drop into the clear area behind us and down.
What a rush!
Hi Dale
ReplyDeleteI like 'chicks on Sticks' ;-) It must be amazing to be able to treat skiing as a normal part of life. For most Europeans it's a once (or twice at the most) yearly holiday involving lots of loot!
Guess you can compare it to the life in the sun we had in SA, where every weekend was like most people's summer holidays, and for us it was always there - free!
What do you do on your mountains in the Summer, Dale. Do you exchange skis for horses? In fact where can you possibly go on holiday that can beat what you have in your back yard. You must revel in every day you have there!
Hope you're nearing 100% fitness again Dale. I read your comment on PTfan's blog and realised again how ill you've been.
Look after yourself
Val
Hi Dale,
ReplyDeleteAre you guys still skiing now? I think the hills here have closed for the spring - at least most of the snow is melted off. When we drove through Vermont on the weekend, though, I think some people were still taking advantage of spring skiing.
You'll have to do an off-season "chicks on stix" - have some girlie nights out or something until winter comes again. :)
Hi Val
ReplyDeleteI love the area where we live for all those reasons! I do revel in it & we are doing our best to help our children to grow up appreciating all they have.
In the summer we do a lot of mountain biking, camping & days at the beach - we're only a couple of blocks away from the lake.
My horse is old & at pasture now, so I don't do much horseback riding any more. No one else in the family rides horses, so it isn't a convenient sport at the moment.
Jenny would like to learn, but it is very expensive...
Thanks, too, for the well-wishes, Val.
I was very sick with I don't quite know what. All I know is, that I was a bit frightened by the symptoms for a while.
This photo on my blog was my first day back on skis after being in bed for 2 weeks!
I was a wee bit nervous about how I'd do, under the "sickumstances".
One of the things that kept me going, besides my family, was that I figured if I was going to end up sick, I'd rather do it here than anywhere else!
Mary Beth, I love your funny comment on the other post!
Our ski hill is open until April 23, then we do a one more day at Sunshine Village on Mother's Day.
Tradition... :)
On that day they usually have a live band playing at the base. Last year was Trooper & the year before was April Wine.
Not bad - a free concert on a ski day!!!
Maybe I could talk Pete & Roger to come play...
Love
Dale
Hi Dale
ReplyDeleteLovely picture. I like the term "chicks on sticks".
Your previous picture in the last post is hilarious. I had to chuckle when I saw it. It's good to know that the hospital is nearby at least.:)

Hi Dale,
ReplyDeleteLovely picture, and the name makes me smile as well. Our dragonboating school team tried to adopt the same name, and we also had the naughty "whores with oars" as our backup. ;)
Glad that you're feeling better too!
Cheers,
AM
