Never Never Land can wait...
I have decided to take this day and keep it entirely to myself.
It has been crazy busy and, even on my play days at the ski hill, I am still working frantically to keep my head above water and complete all the regular day-to-day work.
I will keep this Sunday to rest, relax and recharge my dwindling battery stores.
Although we had plans to ski today and head into a remote part of Taynton Bowl called Never Never Land, I will put that trip on the back burner until next weekend.
It will surely still be there in seven days!
Yesterday afternoon was a fabulous day on the hill, as to which the above photo can attest.
It's a pic of me taken on a run in Taynton Bowl call B2nd - when skiing powder we'd much rather B1st!
If you click on the image and enlarge it, you can get a good feel of how it is back there in the the trees, the deeps and the steeps.
It's always good for an extended adrenaline rush skiing in there!
Next week...

Gosh that looks great, although I am two left feet on skis - Good to recharge. If my pic doesn't show up it's cause I have been forced to change to the new blogger (google) - good to recharge, I did that today, except got addicted to reading Anne-Marie and Val's books...!
ReplyDeleteYour pic shows up fine, String.
ReplyDeleteAnd skis fit fine on two left feet - or two right ones...
I will have to make myself the time to read Val's and AM's stories...
I hear they are very good.
Hi Dale,
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I didn't have the physical limitations of a bad left hip to be able to enjoy skiing the way you do. The truth is, I'm too scared to reinjure, and I am an adrenaline-speed junkie, which is why snowtubing is perfect- you can just sit on your derriere and whip down the hill safely. I have two right feet. :)
I enlarged the shot and you really do get a sense of the path in the bigger shot- so much more depth and a better idea of the bumps and trees. I would, of course, be in those trees...
Enjoy your well deserved rest and feel free to come get lost in our books too. I love reading Val's work- so vivid and fun.
Cheers,
AM
rest, rest, rest... and sip some wine... or tea with baileys... and nibble something you never allow youself... wrap up in a cozy blanket... watch your favourite movie... or read your favourite book... or colour with wax crayons... tell your kids mom is on vacation... eat macaroni and cheese for dinner... and love yourself...
ReplyDeleteAnne-Marie - thanks for visiting my photo. Enlarging it really does enhance the feeling.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling of not wanting to re-injure...it took me a while to get over my broken ribs from three summers ago.
Thanks Stephanie...I really do need one of those days and yes, KD for dinner!
Cosy blanket and pillow at hand, warm fire, hot cocoa and I do love to colour with crayons...I've done some of my best work in wax!
I think that, between String's two left feet and Anne-Marie's two right feet, we could figure something out...
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought that photo was of George. I can't see your face!! I hope to get four hours on the hill next week-end to try my new equipment.
ReplyDeleteHope your day went well. My entire week-end was a blast!
My day went very well...and all too fast thanks, Lesley.
ReplyDeleteAnne-Marie will be proud of me - I had a bubble bath!
Great photo!
ReplyDeleteDale, that skiing looks like such fun. We have a place here called Sleepy Hollow that has something that passes for a ski hill (I'm told). Randy (and you!) almost have me convinced that I should try downhill.....oh dear...
If I don't get the chance to read Val and Anne-Marie's stories, I will be taking them to the Caribbean with me and reading them poolside! I really wanted to have read them by now, though. I guess I wasn't unemployed quite long enough! :/
Thanks for the compliment on Stevie's blog.
So glad you enjoyed your day.
i hope you enjoyed your day..wow! you look fab skiing down that hill..you must be fit!..its truely a beautiful place where you live..magic...
ReplyDeleteEven God rested on the seventh day, Dale.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

I enlarged the photo....Those trees are little, Dale. Bring 'em on!
ReplyDeleteJust kidding.
You should have seen the size of the ones I missed when I fell 300 ft. about 30 years ago.
--Dan L.
we really do live in an amazing place... I tend think ever so two-dimensionally until I get up and flying overhead... than I realize just how immense all those mountain ranges are on each side of us!
ReplyDeleteStopped skiing a great many years ago.. but I look fabulous in a ski sweater sipping hot cider in the ski lodge... lol!
Gypsy, I never stop being amazed at the beautiful world around me and I wonder at the magic of it all, too.
ReplyDeleteSome days I feel less fit than others...
LOL Dan - it's a good thing you missed the trees!
They are small in that area because of the altitude. We are right up near the tree line - where it's too high for trees to grow - the higher you go, the smaller they grow...
Rachel, skiing is a great sport for all ages. Mind it's easier to learn when you're young, but there's no stopping an "older" person from taking it up, too. It's simply one turn at a time...
Stephanie, I learned to ski at a young age in Quebec, but I didn't ski for many years while living on the prairies. But I can boast that I have skied in both Edmonton and Saskatchewan!
The mountains do look different from the air...
never say..never never land...
ReplyDeleteSnow...
ReplyDeleteSnow...
Snow...
I love snow. About a week ago I woke up and the view outside my window was all white, and I was sooo excited, until it all melted by noon. Boohoo.
I'm well, still working long hours but when I have some free time can't resist a bit of blogging.
The picture is majestic! Have lots of fun in Never Never Land!
xoxoxo

Well...I was forced to change to the new blogger and some have you have become anonymous...
ReplyDelete...but you can't fool me!
I know who you are.
Apparently those of you who are on the new blogger have lost your identity...
ReplyDeletei'm scared...
Or...never, never land.
ReplyDeleteI'll try again...My lost comment was rejected, so we'll see what this does!
ReplyDeleteOh your picture is lovely Dale! I also clicked on it and saw how much depth the snow has and how even your skis are leaving no traces. Is that a smile I see on your face as you lean into the curves?
You look so happy and graceful out there....not for me, though...my choice is messing about on the river ;-) xx Val
they got you the swines!!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel so lost.....and anonymous....I switched over last year. What's up with that?
ReplyDeleteOh! That's better.
ReplyDeleteI didn't go down without a fight!
ReplyDeleteHi Dale,
ReplyDeleteit's Anne-Marie hoping not to be anonymous. Send me an email with your new blogger google email, and I'll add you on as a reader for the writing blogs, okay?
Ah, I didn't lose my identity. Good.
