A Stone Rolled...
Reports have it that Keith Richards is recovering in a hospital in New Zealand after receiving a concussion caused by a fall from a palm tree. He and his wife, Patti, had been vacationing on the lovely island of Fiji.
The prognosis became worse when a blood clot formed in Keith's head at the site of the injury. Fears were that he would have to undergo surgery, but apparently it was not necessary after all.
I love Keith dearly and, in my youth - and his, I considered him a very dashing and handsome man.
Age and the rock and roll lifestyle have taken their toll on Mr. Richards, but nothing has taken from his amazing songwriting and guitar-playing talents.
I cannot imagine how Keith got up that tree in the first place...

I think we are all better off not knowing what Keith was doing in that tree! I am glad he is going to be fine and he still has that devilish sparkle in his eyes
ReplyDeleteHi Dale,
ReplyDeleteI did hear about the on the news the other day, and my first thought also was how did he get up in the tree??! There's always crazy stuff happening in that rock & roll lifestyle.....
Dale:
ReplyDeleteI was truly wondering about the tree thing myself. What the heck...If I in my sixties (I am 48), I cannot believe in climbing coconut trees.
I have many years of rock climbing, alpine climbing (been on many mountain summits), but NO COCONUT trees. I just don't get it. I understand the guy was biting ankles in a restaurant about 6 months back...
Ah well...we do watch and hope...

Maybe he wanted a coconut? : )
ReplyDeleteI didn' tknow about the blood clot. That's pretty serious.
Back home, when my local rock station would introduce a Stones song, this one DJ would introduce them as "the Ugly Ones". I concur. They got noting on the Who, NOTHING! They are a fine R&R band but definately not THE greatest Rock Band, whcich they always claim to be. The WHo got them blown away, just like at the Rock and Roll Circus, with talent, songwriting, muusical ability, looks and just plain fun!
Happy weekend. I'm still crazy busy. Maybe I'll be able to sleep in tomorrow. I need to catch up on some sleep.
Maybe he was there because his absolute age is sixteen not sixty! There's plenty of childish pranks left in me, I know and whatever our bodies tell us, sometimes our spirits don't want to agree! I'm very glad he's doing well now too. It would have been a sad day for rock had he not made it - still, if you're gonna go.....?!
ReplyDeleteHave a super weekend, Dale, and thanks for you sweet comment on my blog.
Love
Val
as long as he can still play the guitar!...have you listened to neils chat with keef...its very funny...
ReplyDeleteThat's funny about the ankle biting, Dan! If it was none other than our dear Keef, I wouldn't believe it...
ReplyDeleteI was in Fiji last summer & coconut palms are very hard to climb...and how do I know that?
Like Val said, we all have that 16 year old (or younger) in us! I have yet to outgrow playing...
And PTfan, Eternal Champion of The Who, you are right.
Although I love The Stones, it's The Who who are so dear to my heart!
This weekend is AC/DC weekend on our classic rock FM radio station.
It's a celebration of the band's 30 years...
Has it really been that long?
Did I really know Angus when he was 21?
Hard to believe - but time marches on!
Long Live Rock!
...and all the bumps & bruises that go in hand with it!
do spill the beans dale im intrigued now did you know angus when he was 21??...becareful with the headbanging with the weekend of AC/DC....if find TCP is good for a stiff neck...

ReplyDeleteWhen Angus was 21 I was 19...
I think I might just go about with a Stiff Upper Lip instead...
It's going to take much more than a coconut tree to take Keef down. He like highlander- immortal.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
AM
