MY REAL LOVE
My husband and my children are my real love.
They are my reason and purpose in life.
On symbolic terms, Pete Townshend and Angus Young represent my alter egos.
Pete is my intellectual side that includes introspect, philosophical thinking and creativity.
Angus, on the other hand, is my wilder, fun-loving and cast-it-to-the-wind/devil-may-care perspective.
I also render a nurturing, maternal and compassionate manner upon my family, and my all-encompassing love of animals brings that instinct to the forefront, as well.
All of the above characteristics are strong within me and may cause some conflict at times. Therefore, I believe that balance is of the utmost importance and the ability to use all my "personalities" to create an integrated whole is vital.
My loves - to quote Val - are my joy and my bane...
But - to quote myself - the joy is what I remember!

Dale,
ReplyDeleteI could have written the same post, with only two subsitutions: the kids become the cats, if only because I was never fortunate enough to be able to have kids, and so the furry babies are my little loves, and Freddie Mercury was my Angus Young, wild and full of spirit when he still graced the stage. I completely share your values, and the way you life and your place in the world.
It is indeed a joyful world, if you open yourself up to love.
Cheers and have a great weekend! (We're off to see Styx at a casino tonight- great cheese!!!)

ReplyDeleteThank you & I am flattered!
It's nice to find things in common with new friends.
Freddie was amazing, too!
You are also fortunate to have your furry friends, as well as the children at school.
What grade(s) do you teach?
This afternoon I will set Pete aside & chase Angus on the slopes.
54-40 is playing in the sun pit this afternoon!
Have fun at the casino this evening!
George would be envious, as he loves Styx.
:)

Hi Dale,
ReplyDeleteHaving so many sides to ourselves is what makes us unique. I think the world would be qute boring if we were all monotone and one-sided. And hey, we all have that conflict inside us too! :)
May it always be the joy you remember - I hope you're having a great weekend!
Thanks MB
ReplyDeleteYou're right, we all are different & have different qualities within us.
Keep the happiness & joy & I think we just might have the ticket.
You guys are great!

ReplyDeleteOh Dale,
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful post, opening your heart to us! I know how it feels when you love so many different people and you feel confused.
I think nothing beats the family love, but when you see those eyes on the painting at your previous blog...well, what can I say...? Or when you see your Angus and I see my Keith drumming our hearts fill with love. And that brings balance, our musician loves are our escapes.
Hope you're well this Sunday.
It's cloudy in London, I'm going to do DIY with mom and cook greek foods...hurrah!
