The Fire Moon

Through the smoke of distant fire
Drawn into the dusky sky,
Growing stronger - rising higher
There it met my eye.
Its glow was sure - a firey red,
A pagan sight, it's true.
From the sleeping sun it fed,
And yet it was quite blue.

  2. It is a re-post of a poem I wrote several years ago.
It came to mind while riding home in the boat one hot, smoky night during fire season at the end of July.
The second full moon of the month rose, stained vermillion, through the haze.
    It was stunning!

  3. Oh how beautiful this sight must have been! How I wish I could have been there to see it for myself.:)
