Tree Huggers

This photo gives a decent perspective as to how demanding the terrain is in the back bowl.
It's steep and it's deep!

I took this pic with my skis on - eeeks.

In here, the last place one wants to end up is hugging a tree...

  1. OMG Dale, it looks terrifying...and stunning too!

How do you have the neverv to ski down that?? I'd be sitting firmly on my behind before attempting to descend that! Mind you, I probably wouldn't be persuaded to go up there in the first place..lol ;-)

  2. This just goes to prove that you have better legs than I do!

  3. Val - it used to be terrifying!
I've also skied it on my behind, back, front, sides, head...
I'm so glad I'm able to go in there with confidence now - I'd be missing all that stunning scenery!

Lesley - LOL it ain't about the legs...
Techninque plays the biggest part and it took me a lot of years to get there!
    See above comment...

  4. BTW I took this photo because it caught my eye.
If you have time, enlarge it and check out the textures and designs in the burnt-out trunks.
Many years ago a forest fire blazed through this area, leaving jagged snags scattered over the hillside.

  5. Hi Dale
I have been awfully remiss in not blogging around evenly enough. I get energetic for a few minutes, get one ro two done, and then peter out. I am afraid I am on pretty low reserves just now, for a variety of reasons. But I am not deserting, really I am not!
I am a total newbie in the concert ring. As a teen, only went to things like Moe Kaufman, Ray Charles, Neil Diamond and Zamfir. I listened to rock but never went to the concerts.
Well, that all changed two years ago when I bough Ian tickets to Deep Purple and Thin LIzzy.
OMG my ears were ringing for days...
    ps
Beth left a text at the yc

  6. Hug too many trees, and I'll be callin' you Al Gore...or even Sonny Bono...whose distant cousin (also a Bono) lives near here.

  7. OK now I'm REALLY getting cross. I left a nice little comment here for you earlier, and it's been eaten by bears. Something about how much like a major pilramage the Meatloaf expedition was, and how I'm glad it seemed well worth the effort, how beautiful this photo is (and dangerous looking), and other inanities besides. Now I'm sulking. I have only been on new Blogger since this morning and already I hate what it's done to me!!!

    But I'll get over it.

  8. ... oh, and I think I also said something about being with Val on the appropriate use of bottoms here as well. And how Koos made me laugh on your last post with his comparative description of the degree of difficulty in getting to the Who show in Rotterdam. But it doesn't matter now. Am I bitter? Noooooooo...t much!

  9. No kidding, great pic tho! Skiing on your head? Could you please take an action pic in that position! POV=Point of View, although your translation is more apt!

  10. ... I just gotta say that I'm impressed, and, better you than me.

Have you spoken to M&D lately?

  11. I think I'll stick to the clean man-made snow tubing hills. The tree and I would be one, the way I ski.

    Great photo, Dale!

  12. I enlarged the pic as instructed and breathed in the wondrous dereliction of it...beautiful it was..

  13. ... it looks like the kind of tree you'd find in a spooky, witchy .... er gypsy .... type of forest.

  14. Margie, new blogger also annoys the heck out of me too...it seems to decide when to sign me in and out, I can't log in on a comment page, and it does funny disappearing acts with comments I'm sure I've written too...can give you a really crinkly mouth, can't it?

Dale, I also blew up the picture and it blew me away..lol...really amazing to think it was you standing there taking it....I wouldn't have been able to stand up long enough to take an upright photo..would have been more of a sideways on view...glad to hear you've also done the bum slide method ;-)

  15. Stevie - hope you're doing ok and don't feel bad...
I've been having computer trouble and it takes me forever to make the rounds.
My first concert in years was The Who back in October - as well you know how famous I am for that!
It was amazing to be able to look into those lovely blue eyes of Pete's.
Rog wasn't too hard to look at, either.
    But Zak...the drummer...well...

I did get the message about the text - I now have to remember to tell Beth. Thanks!

Dan- our valley is full of tree huggers - alive ones, to boot!
As for Al Gore...please don't go there ;)

Margie - new blogger irritates me, too, especially now that my computer works at less than a snail's pace!

String - I can't say as I've had my photo taken in any compromising position on the hill...
    Explosions happen too quickly!

Lesley - I have spoken with them.
    Lucky ones they are...whew.

Gypsy - I knew you'd appreciate the derelicte-ness-ness...entangled as naked lovers...

Anne-Marie - I'm going to have to search out a tubing hill one day...or make my own

    Val - LOL
I WAS having trouble standing up and taking an upright photo!
It took me several tries and I ended up falling over in the process.
I finally had to lean on my buddy for "technical support".

  16. one other word about the new blogger

no matter how correct i key the verification word on the first try when logging in, it always makes me do it again

  18. Dale - I believe they have snow tubing up at Tremblant. That'll make for a more economical day of activity when the gang meets up next December
