HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926 in London, England.
She was born into royalty to King George VI and his wife, the late Queen Mother (Elizabeth).
On February 6, 1952 King George VI died and Elizabeth became the reigning queen of England. Her coronation was on June 2, 1953.

Although I respect Queen Elizabeth and her duties, royalty continues to puzzle me...

  2. You know, Gypsy, the Sex Pistols did have the right idea.

  3. Hello Dale,
I have edited the first paragraph of my queen's day post to clarify who is who. Luckily the British royal family has no say in the Netherlands.
As usual you take the language to a different level: 'orange' as a way of saying 'or aren't you'.
    brilliant.
MyVal is now posting images of Foy Vance and two extremely colourful 'queens' we met in Utrecht. Recommended.
    Love

  5. Hi Dale,

Yes Monarchy in the UK... it puzzles me too.

    Are you feeling better?
And the rest of the family?

  7. Koos, I like the where the chatter on Rachel's blog is leading right now. We're having fun.
    Go Flames Go!

We are all feeling better, Marietta, thank you! Get some good sleep.

You're right, Gypsy, the drama & intrigue that follows the royals must run in the family! It's a long line...

  8. Hi Dale,
I'm not much of a monarchist, but I do wish Elizabeth II a long, happy life. She has always placed duty for country before anything else, and that's something to be admired in a world that sorely lacks commitment, I suppose. God, I am sounding like an old geezer, aren't I?

    Cheers,
    AM

  9. Yes, Anne-Marie, I do agree with you about admiring Elizabeth.

I think that when we talk about the monarchy, we have to sound old. It's such an old establishment!

  10. Hi Dale,

Ahh, the old queen, still going strong. I don't know if she's still there to save us from having to call Charles 'King', or if she actually likes the job....maybe you just get into a routine after 50 odd years of it. :)

I think that monarchy puzzles us all!!
