Birthdays and Baked Potatoes

This morning I'm busy making salads and such, because we're celebrating an important birthday.
Beth is turning nineteen tomorrow!
It's an important milestone for her, as she'll become the age of majority. Now Beth will be recognised as an adult under the law, be able to vote provicially and, more importantly, she'll be able to grace the local pub with her presence.
Another birthday we are heralding in is that of Rachel Fuller. I don't know exactly how old she turned today, but I do know I still have a few years on her!
The weather has been so hot this week that cooking has become something of a distant memory. Hence, the salads being made at such an early hour in the day. I did buy some (Jenny's tooth just fell out...) steaks and will be grilling them on the barbeque, but everything else will be cold!
Other than the fact that, like Grace, I feel similar to one - absolutely no baked potatoes!

  1. Happy Birthday Beth!!! And to Rachel wherever she might be. I don't hear much of what goes on in her world these days, but Beth is at the beginning of her life, so I'll raise my glass to her and wish her a wonderful, vibrant, creative adulthood ;-) Go for it girl, and make the most of every day you have... You too, Dale xxx

  2. Happy birthday Beth! And yes to miss Rachel Fuller too!

I hear ya, on not cooking when it is so hot, the thought of creating more heat inside is just not happening for me. Good choice with the salad, and cold meal.

I hope she has a super day tomorrow. 19yrs old - that is a big milestone in a young persons life.

  4. Dale!

    Hi, and Hello!

It is always good to see you on your blog. I always love your photos!

Maybe I am missing, me, on my blog, a lot, but....I have been trying.
My wife is really not well, but me, I remain OK. I will carry on the torch.

  5. Hope you had a good time with Beth yesterday. I was thinking about her and also back on the day that she was born. Can't believe it was 19 years ago! Also hope you're enjoying your new apt.

  6. Dan! Great to see you here.
I am sorry that Cruz is not well and I am thinking of you.

Lesley, Beth had a great time at Bud's Disco last night. I got the call at 2 am to "please come and get us"... Better that than the alternative!
I used it as an excuse to get out and cool off. lol
Oh, and it's not an apartment. It's a house! The main floor - with tenants in the walk-out below. Big yard, wrap-around deck with an amazing view of the lake!
I know the renters downstairs and we share the laundry room. It works very well. I wish you could come out and see it.

  7. Ah, M&D said it was an apt. It must a nice change in some ways to before. Hope you have many great memories there. Hopefully, if the winds of change have anything to do with it, I will see it in the nearer rather than later future.

  8. Hi Dale,
happy belated wishes to your Beth, and all the best in your new place. Had a wonderful Indian dinner with your sis, my sis, my bro, and all the partners and visiting friends. Our little 8 year-old sweetie was taking all sorts of sordid shots which I hope to copy and upload to my blog sometime this week. :)

As for Rachel, I believe she was at once 30 and 33 in 2006, which makes her 35 to 38, depending on whether or not you believe the initial assessments. I do remember her horrified look during Jerry Hall's "Kept" tv reality show when one of Jerry's suitors thought she was 38 and she exclaimed that she was only 30! I don't know why people lie about their ages, but then again, I've been 35 for a long time. ;)
