THIRTY TWO

Even after an night of pouring rain, there is still snow at the ski hill...

Our poor jack-o-lanterns wilted in the wet weather.
They began as proud creations - glowing eerily on Halloween - but ended up as flat, soggy, sorry-looking piles of mush!

It was sunny and warm down in the valley today - even the bugs came out to enjoy the last of the good weather.

  1. I don't know if it's slush on the hill, but there's no snow left here in the valley...

It melted before it had time to slush!!

    ...it's pouring rain right now.

    Gotta luv November...

  3. I remember when I lived in the French Alpes how we used to celebrate rain in November and December - because it meant that snow was falling in higher elevations.

I actually remember skiing in November - but only on the glaciers at the highest elevations. Oh how I miss those days.

  4. There's a saying here in Iowa that I heard echoed many times in Dale's valley when I was there:

If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes and it will change!

Lannio's right, though. If it's pouring rain in the valley, I'll betcha it's been snowing buckets up on the hill!

    It's spitting drizzle here. Yuk.

  7. I'm counting on the weather to get colder, Gypsy!

EL, we might go to Lake Louise in November to ski on the weekend of the World Cup...

That saying still applies, Rachel, but it's been precipitating far longer than five minutes!

Yes Marietta, I remember counting down with you, too!
It was for your trip to Amsterdam, I believe... with the money you saved by quitting smoking!

I've caught you lurking in several places, Val!

  22. Hi Dale,
Wow! a lot of cursing here!

I like snow, that what makes winter so much better. Unfortunately I don't play very much in the snow, not unless I am warm enough and don't get too wet.

I've got some cool news, I ALMOST MET PETE TOWNSHEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got as close as 1/2 a foot behind him.

See my new posts for more on this.
