WEATHER FORECAST

Hot dry winds from south - powerful switch to wet cold winds from north.
One hundred kilometre per hour gusts off the lake!
...blew wee Jenny smack off her bike into the ditch.

We don't have to worry about the entire forest burning... there's less forest left to burn.
Our house didn't blow away, but the trees did...

The background music to our days are the clean-up crews - like rock and roll stars wielding chainsaws.

  3. Wow Dale! You really had a big blow out there! What a storm! A bit more than the big bad wolf trying to blow the house down..lol.

Still, I'm very glad you survived, and that none of those monster trees landed on your house. I see too that your computer survived too..or are you using a different one..;-)

We'll miss you lots when you go, but I'm sure you're looking forward to your hols, dear.

  4. I was wishing the north wind would doth bloweth - got more than my wish!

BTW those aren't my pics - i nicked them off the internet, but you get the idea.

There were fire trucks everywhere, hydro power trucks everywhere, ambulances everywhere, emergency first response vehicles everywhere... all in our sleepy little town.

The ambulance was for a lady who apparently had a heart attack at the same time the storm happened and in the same campground where most of the trees came down.

...i should get a gold star for best run-on sentence yet...

  8. Oh my that is some wind! Blew out all the power here today. We got hit bad as well. No traffic lights for miles of the city. It was nuts!

Saw your fun comments on RF's about the gig. You crack me up!! This is the first time I have really had to blog to anyone else so I am off to read your blog now and catch up.

    Glad to see you well.

  9. Hi Dale,
I sent you an email yesterday and our online time ran out just as I pressed the "send" button. Argh!!!

Wicked weather all over the world these days, it seems. Glad your home is safe. We walked out of the airport last night and hit the humidity wall immediately- reminded me of the Who show in Berlin. :) It's 35 C and muggy, nothing like it was in Europe, which seemed like a hot a few days ago. I think Toronto has its own humid wall that can't be compared.

Hope things are well and that the weather is going to calm down soon. I have 753 emails to read and catch up on today and lots of chores. Back on a plane tomorrow. Whee!

    Cheers,
    AM

  21. it's always awful when someone as lovely as she seems to have been dies suddenly and needlessly. I've not heard much of her before, but if you've followed someone's life throughout your own it's going to be a shock..very understandable, Dale...
Even more huddles to keep you going through to tomorrow which will be another brighter day..xx

  23. Good lord, you guys have the worst shoulder brushes with fires! I can't believe in your last posting that those people left a candle on in their outhouse in the summer. Some people just don't think!

I hope you guys are getting some storms now so it will lessen the threat of the forest fires. We've had some with tornados (though thankfully, the tornados weren't in Ottawa...!)

You've got my e-mail address, right? I think I left it on here somewhere..... :)

  24. Whoa I'm gone for a week or so and look at what happens in my absence! Glad you're all OK Dale!
